The following is a complete list of services our office provides:
While we strive to save as many of your natural teeth as possible, sometimes that’s not the healthiest or safest option. In cases where all of the upper or lower teeth need to be removed, we’ll recommend a complete or full denture.
A complete set covers your entire jaw, either upper, lower or both. Even though the teeth are artificial and made from a strong, yet lightweight acrylic, Dr. Strawn’s expertise ensures that the new teeth will fit comfortably and look natural.
In some cases, an overdenture may be the doctor’s recommendation. This is when the set is placed over portions of remaining teeth or an implant. It helps preserve bone and natural chewing function, while also making the entire structure more stable and less likely to shift.
If some teeth can be saved, Dr. Strawn may recommend a partial denture. There are three different types:
- All-acrylic partials: There’s no frame other than the pink acrylic plastic and some metal clasps that provide stabilization.
Depending on your individual preference, one of these options is likely to suit your needs better than the others. When you come to our office for your consultation, Dr. Strawn will help you decide which type of partial is best for your lifestyle.
If you’d rather not walk around with one or more missing teeth while you wait for your gums to heal, we also offer immediate dentures. Impressions would be taken before removing your teeth so you could be fitted with a new denture on the same day that your teeth are extracted.
Same Day Repairs and Relines
Emergencies happen. You might need to have your dentures repaired immediately, but you should never sacrifice the quality of the work just for speed or convenience. Remember a denture is a medical appliance, and an improperly performed repair can cause further damage. And whatever you do, don’t try to do the repairs on your own!
Because we have an in-house lab, we can perform repairs and relines the same day as your appointment.
As extraction sites heal and the bones reshape, your dentures will need to be adjusted and realigned to ensure proper fit. Remember, comfort and chewing function are key to having a positive experience.
Ill-fitting dentures, uncomfortable rubbing and sore spots all point to the need for something called a mini implant. Instead of relying only on the gums to hold the denture in place, a mini implant works similarly to the bone. No glues or adhesive required. And most importantly, no more suction because this option means that the piece that covers the roof of the mouth is no longer required.
